Why Powder Coat?
Powder coating not only looks great, but it also protects your bumpers. Powder coating creates a physical barrier between steel and moisture. All steel has the potential to rust – remember that rust is simply oxidized iron, and steel is made from iron. That means any contact from moisture can turn steel into rust.
That’s why we powder coat more than 60% of all the bumpers we sell. Having the coating expertly applied is crucial. It requires specialized equipment and an experienced professional to do it right. Applying the right materials is also key. There are many types of powder coat materials out there, but we use a superior powder coat material that includes plastic (thermoplastic or thermoset polymer). Plastic doesn’t rust, and won’t let moisture pass through, so a powder-coated steel bumper won’t rust. When you choose this option for your Throttle Down Kustoms bumper, you can be sure the coating is applied electrostatically and the bumper is cured in a specialized oven for superior hardening.
Benefits Of Powder Coating
- Visually enhance your truck
- Prevent the bumper from corroding
- Low cost – high value
At Throttle Down Kustoms we sell ready-to-paint bumpers. These bare steel bumpers are built, so the end user can chose to paint, powder coat, or otherwise finish their bumper as they choose. Because our bare steel bumpers are delivered with no surface rust, dirt or visible swirl marks, it allows for a longer-lasting finish – especially important for powder coating.
