Diesel trucks are some of the most powerful on the road. We were curious just how powerful they are and just how much that power has grown, so we did some research. The chart below projects power increases we expect to see in the next decade:
In 1998, the average horsepower for the big three diesel trucks was 218; average torque 443. If the trend continues, both horsepower and torque in diesel trucks will be more than twice that by 2028.
When you take a moment to appreciate the advances truck engineers have made in horsepower and torque, it really is impressive.
